Crested Black Macaques Photograph the Photographer and Themselves

The crested black macaque is a threatened species that lives in the northeast of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi and smaller neighbouring islands. It spends more than half of its day on the ground foraging for food and socialising and tends to live in groups of between five and 25 animals.

Arizona wildfire rages on - The Big Picture
A vast wildfire, measuring half the size of the state of Rhode Island and described as the second worst fire in Arizona history, continues to surge across eastern Arizona. The fire has jumped past firefighter's containment lines to reach the edges of residential areas, prompting more evacuation orders. Winds carrying burning embers continue to ignite smaller fires, causing new concerns about the prospect of extinguishing the 13-day-old fire. The Wallow Fire has destroyed approximately 337,000 acres and threatens main electrical lines that supply power as far away as west Texas. Thousands have evacuated. Paula Nelson - The Boston Globe

Ghosts of the Mothball Fleet
The Mothball Fleet is the group of decommissioned Navy ships stored at Suisun Bay, just north of San Francisco. These ships served in conflicts going back to World War II, and now they are gradually being scrapped.Some of these ships were used in the movie Magnum Force (1973) with Clint Eastwood. Photographer Scott Haefner and friends managed to spend several days exploring and photographing these ships, despite security guards.
